Travelling to Basel for Holidays

All our apartments in Basel

Nestled in the North West corner of Switzerland where it meets France and Germany, Basel is perfectly situated for exploring all three countries. Sitting on the banks of the Rhine River, Basel has long been an international transport hub which accounts for its cosmopolitan and open atmosphere.

It is easy to explore, not only the many tourist attractions of Basel but also other Swiss, French and German cities and countryside, especially if you rent a family apartment in the centre of the town. Basel is a wonderful melange of contemporary architecture from some of the world’s leading architects mixed with the historic buildings and picturesque streets of the Old Town. Don’t miss the Town Hall and the three remaining Town Gates that were part of the old fortifications.

Switzerland’s Cultural Capital

Art is a way of life for the inhabitants of Basel and they are blessed with an unbelievable variety of galleries, nearly 40 museums, a grand theatre of international renown and countless other smaller theatres, a music theatre and playhouses. Home to both music and jazz festivals every year, it is no wonder that Basel also has an excellent choice of live music clubs. The right bank of the Rhine in the district of “Kleinbasel” is the home of the alternative cultural scene, probably fuelled by the students from oldest university in Switzerland. For something out of the ordinary why not pay a visit to the Dollhouse museum, featuring more than 6000 exhibits, including a teddy bear collection that is unique throughout the world.
