Perpignan - French or Spanish?

Perpignan was the capital city of French Catalonia from the 10th to the 17th centuries and the Spanish influence is very obvious. Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Pyrennees on the other, Perpignan benefits from its position with around 300 days of sunshine each year. The main monuments of Perpignan illustrate the period when it was part of the Kingdom of Majorca: the Palace of the Kings of Mallorca, the Cathedral, the Campo Santo, the City Hall and the churches. The Palace, which is in the Gothic style, dates from the 14th century and is to be found on a hill on the south side of the city.

Wine is a big feature of the countryside surrounding Perpignan and the vineyards of the Cotes de Rousillon produce red, white and rose wines with a characteristic flavour. There are several tours that can be taken throughout the region.Perfect for a beach holiday, mountain biking or hiking trip or just gazing in awe at some of the beautiful architecture of the historic centre of the city, Perpignan will appeal to any holidaymaker. Located close to the centre of the city, the Aparthotel is the perfect location for either a long or short stay.
