Check in Mishap
My overall experience was satisfactory. The apartment is in a good location near the metro to access the city.
The apartment was clean, with all the requirements in the kitchen, including a kettle. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very pleasant. So why was I dissatisfied?
The reception was very busy when I was checking in. I was staying for one night and my booking was prepaid. The only thing I had to pay was the city tax of one euro and 98 cent. The receptionist checked me in and told me I had to pay the tax which I was aware of and had put a two euro coin on the counter. She smiled and said she didn't have the two centimes change as they didn't have cash. I said that was ok and the other receptionist took the coin off the counter. I did not receive a receipt for the two euro, my mistake it won't happen again. The following morning I went to reception to check out and the receptionist asked if I wanted to pay. I told her everything was prepaid and I asked her were we good and she said yes.
Then I received an email telling me I hadn't paid the city tax and could I forward my credit card details so it could be deducted. I replied to the email explaining I had paid the tax and I wanted confirmation of that. I did not receive a reply so I forwarded another email, I received a reply to that email telling me how they had checked the cash and could find no trace of my two euro. So I replied to that email explaining everything that had happened at check in and said as I had paid the tax I was not going to pay it again. I received a one word reply of "ok".
It's not the Two Euro its the principal of the thing.
